Emma Gray's Photography Blog

Where did you get married? > We got married at Keavil House Hotel.
Would you recommend this venue to others? > I would 100% recommend Keavil. Nothing was too much trouble and they made the whole planning process so easy. Everything was exactly as we had asked.
What month did you get married? > We got married in May 2016.
How far in advance did you start planning your wedding? > We started planning our wedding in January 2014.
How did you decide on the date of your wedding? > We decided on our wedding date as our lucky number is 7 and the 7th of May was the only Saturday in 2016 that fell on the 7th.
What kind of ceremony did you opt for? > We had a humanist ceremony. We loved it, it was so personal to us. Neither of us are religious so it made sense to have a ceremony that focused on us as a couple. Stewart Struthers was our celebrant and he was fantastic!
After you had chosen your date and booked your venue, what was the first thing you booked? > We first booked our photographer as I feel this is one of the most important things. After the wedding is over, all you’re left with is your photos/video so it was important to us that we got someone who would give us exactly what we were looking for.
Did everything go smoothly with your wedding planning or did you run into a few stumbling blocks? > Fortunately we didn’t come across any stumbling blocks. Everything went fairly smoothly.
If you could do it all again, would you do anything differently? > If I could do it all again I wouldn’t change a thing. I loved the whole planning process and loved every minute of our special day.
What are your 3 best tips to pass on to anyone just starting to plan their own wedding? >
1. Do what’s right for you and your husband to be. It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else wants and at the end of the day it needs to be perfect for the couple.
2. Book suppliers in far in advance as possible. We were lucky that we managed to book everyone that we had chosen but leaving things too late can lead to disappointment.
3. Enjoy it.
Who were your 3 favourite suppliers that you used for your wedding? > Our 3 favourite suppliers we used were Emma Gray photography, our pictures are everything we had hoped for and more. Cinematique film company, Simon was brilliant and our video has captured our day perfectly. There’s so much you don’t see on the day so it’s nice to be able to watch it back. The silver kings, the band were fantastic and had everyone up on their feet the entire time! I’d also like to mention Karen from Finesse Floral Designs, my flowers were beautiful and Karen was great.
Did you go on honeymoon and if so where? Tell us a little about it > We went on honeymoon to Barbados. We stayed in a hotel called Crystal Cove. It was amazing. The weather was fantastic and the hotel was fab! The holiday was so relaxing but there were lots of water sports to do if you felt like a change of scenery.
Any other comments? > I got my wedding bouquet preserved and framed which I absolutely love. It’s something not everyone knows about and it’s a great keepsake. I used Viva design flower preservation. Viv collected my bouquet from the reception desk of the hotel the morning after the wedding then once the flowers were dried I went along to pick my frame and layout. The process does take a while, I got my finished bouquet in October but for me it was so worth the wait.
Thanks so much for sharing Emma. I work alongside Cinematique film company on a regular basis and can 100% recommend them as well. Did you know that the lead singer of the band The Silver Kings is also one of my past grooms? Graham and his lovely wife Maxine appear on the front of the wedding packs that I send out!
