From one couple to another…..Sarah & David

Big thank you to Sarah & David for volunteering to be the first couple to pass on some advice for my page. If any of my couples wish to write one too then please just message me the details and i’ll post them up for you. It’s so lovely to be able to share personal experiences and I know how much this can help other couples just starting their planning process.
Where did you get married? > We got married at The Vu in Bathgate
Would You Recommend this venue to others? > I would really recommend this venue to future couples as a lot of the stress is taken out of the day as they organise most of it for you, the only issues I had was that the length of time for speeches is quite short and majority of couples I’ve spoken with have gone over meaning your still eating dessert while the evening guests arrive. Also they don’t have wifi so you need to arrange your music with them and get the exact format they can use for your songs.
What month did you get married we got married in? > October and I found it great as it wasn’t too cold or too hot.
How far in advance did you start planning your wedding? > We started planning 2 years in advance just to give us ample time to save.
How did you decide on the date of your wedding? > We decided the date of our wedding around our photographer vacancy as we really wanted Emma Gray and stuck with that date as didn’t want to lose out on having her be our photographer. (note from Emma – i’m blushing…that’s so lovely to hear! )
What kind of ceremony did you opt for? >We opted for a humanist ceremony and chose Stewart Struthers from Scottish Humanist society who was so amazing, he has a great mix of humour and shows the real journey you have come on as a couple.
After deciding on a date and booking a venue, what was the first thing you booked? > First thing we booked was an appointment with the wedding dress company who was Olivia Cameron in falkirk, we also had Emma booked too so these were the two biggest things ticked off, we followed it off with florist and then the humanist.
Did everything go smoothly with the planning of your wedding or did you come across a few stumbling blocks? > Stumbling blocks I found were actually myself, there are so many things to choose from so I’d say go with your gut.
If you could do it all again, would you do anything differently? > If I could do it again I’d definitely say have a planner and tick everything off your list as you go and really look around and stick to your budget
What are your 3 best tips to pass on to anyone in the process of planning their wedding? > tips for new couples would be try not to stress as whatever you have planned will all come together on the day. Try and do a lot of it together even if hubby to be may not seem too keen lol get him involved it takes less pressure off you and thirdly is just enjoy the whole process, it’ll only be done once and the day goes super fast so take a few minutes just yourselves on the day to absorb it all.
Who were your 3 favourite suppliers that you used for your wedding day? > By far my 3 best suppliers were photographer – Emma Gray Photography, wedding dress company – Olivia Cameron Bridal and my humanist Stuart Struthers, by a mile made my day so much better.
Did you go on honeymoon? If so where and tell us a little about the destination you chose > We finished off the celebrations going away to Thailand where we had 3 days in Bangkok, 3 days in the jungle at the elephant hills and 9 days in Phuket, it did rain quite a lot so I’d say definitely look into that. If your going that far I’d recommend a multi stop to take in as much as you can. X
